University Medical Centres frequently work with dangerous substances. As a rule of thumb, a dangerous substance can be recognised by the hazard pictogram on the packaging. The hazard pictogram distinguishes the dangerous substance from the group of non-dangerous substances.
A manager is responsible for ensuring that staff in the department can work safely with dangerous substances. This checklist can be helpful in this respect.
The checklist offers the possibility to gain insight into the situation in a department in a relatively simple way. The list provides insight into what is structured with regard to the handling of dangerous substances and where there are possibilities for improvement. It is recommended to use the checklist regularly. At least once a year is recommended.
You can download the complete Checklist for managers as a pdf file.
