Label layout

The following applies to labels:

  • They must be applied in an indelible, clearly visible and easily readable manner.
  • The language used on the label is basically Dutch. Substances for laboratory use with packaging of less than one liter may be labelled in English, German or French.

Label information

The label must state:

  • The supplier's name, address, and phone number.
  • The nominal quantity of the substance or mixture unless the quantity is specified elsewhere on the packaging.
  • The product specification: the substance name and a so-called identification number.
  • If applicable: hazard pictograms, signal words, hazard statement, precautionary statements and a section with additional information.

Filling, repackaging, piping, etc.

  • The above requirements also apply when transferring substances from larger to smaller packages and when preparing solutions for general use. This takes place at the pharmacies and in laboratories.
  • Different rules apply when repackaging or preparing solutions for individual use.

Labeling and signaling of reservoirs, pipes and filling and dispensing points can be found under 'Storage'
